Shanghai Police Shut Down Major Counterfeit Modified Starch Powder Operation

In June 2017, Guangzhou Glorystar Chemicals Co., Ltd., with support from the Fengxian Branch of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau, raided and shut down two sites used to make and sell counterfeit products: one on Yanqian Highway in Qingcun Town, Fengxian District, and another on Huayou Road in Minhang District. Four suspects were apprehended: Li Moumou and Qiu Moumou of Shanghai Glorystar Chemicals Environmental Protection Materials Co., Ltd.; Wang Moumou of Shanghai Gaoshixing Chemical Co., Ltd.; and Wang Moumou of Shanghai Yuliang Packaging and Printing Co., Ltd. Officers seized more than 520 boxes of counterfeit modified starch powder and wall putty additive, over 1,400 cardboard boxes, more than 210,000 packaging bags, two counterfeiting machines and several account books. The total value involved exceeded RMB 10 million. The four suspects were placed under criminal detention by the Fengxian Public Security Bureau on suspicion of trademark counterfeiting. The operation dealt a serious blow to the illicit supply chain, disrupting production, storage, transport and sales, and helped restore order in the market and protect consumers.
