“Guangzhou” or “Guangsan”? The original dealer registered a copycat name, manufactured and sold fake products and was jailed

Recently, the Fengxian Public Security Bureau detected a case of illegal manufacturing and selling of illegally manufactured registered trademarks, and arrested four suspects including Li.

On June 8, the Qingcun Police Station of Fengxian Public Security Bureau received an alarm saying that a manufacturer was producing counterfeit modified starch powder of a well-known brand in Guangzhou along the Qianqian Highway in Qingcun Town. The police quickly went to the factory to investigate and collect evidence, and sent the products they brought back to regular manufacturers in Guangzhou for inspection. After inspection, the products of this factory were confirmed to be fake and shoddy. The police immediately took control of Li, the person in charge of the factory. It was learned from Li that the counterfeit and shoddy products produced by the factory were sold in Minhang Jiuxing Market. The police visited the market for many days and finally found the fake and shoddy products produced by the factory in a merchant’s warehouse, so they took the warehouse manager Wang to the police for investigation. The police seized a total of more than 500 boxes of various types of counterfeit finished paint products, more than 200,000 counterfeit packaging bags, and more than 1,500 packaging bags and boxes at the two locations, with a total value of more than 200,000 yuan involved. At the same time, Qiu, who helped Li with production, packaging, and transportation, and Wang, who provided counterfeit packaging items to Li and Wang, were caught by the police.

According to Li’s account, he has been a Shanghai distributor of this well-known Guangzhou company since 2000, selling modified starch powder and other products of this well-known brand. In 2007, due to conflicts with the company, he and Wang registered a new Shanghai company with the same name as the company to produce similar products on their own and use packaging similar to well-known brands. At the same time, he also used his status as an agent of his original company to convince customers that the product was authentic and cheaper from a well-known brand in Guangzhou, thus opening up sales. Total sales in ten years exceeded 20 million yuan.

This year, in order to further increase sales, he went to Hong Kong to register a new company and named it “Guangsan”, deliberately using “Guangsan” to confuse “Guangzhou”. He said he knew it was illegal to sell goods with counterfeit registered trademarks, but he just wanted to make money.

At present, four people including Li have been criminally detained by the police for illegally manufacturing and selling illegally manufactured registered trademarks, and the case is under further review.
