Glorystar Chemicals Company strives to solve the problem of schooling for children of non-local employees
Recently, following employee registration, company submission, and review and approval by the district education bureau, two daughters of Glorystar Chemicals employees with non-local household registration were awarded admission quotas for public schools in Jianggao Town, Baiyun District. According to the “Notice of the People’s Government of Baiyun District, Guangzhou City on Issuing the Interim Measures for Compulsory Education for Children of Migrant Workers in Guangzhou City” (Yunfu [2015] No. 8), in order to effectively utilise the educational resources of public schools at the compulsory education stage within the district, the Baiyun District Government coordinates primary school intake places for the compulsory education stage and allocates them to employees’ children in local enterprises. Each company may apply to secure intake places (basic indicators) for no more than four pupils (including primary and junior high schools) each year.
Upon learning of this policy, senior management immediately directed the Human Resources and Administration Department to publicise it thoroughly and encourage eligible employees to apply. Following registration, company submission, and education bureau approval, the daughters of Zhao Wei (Logistics Management) and Li Guoyou (Equipment Department) were awarded quotas for Baiyun District public schools: Jiangcun Primary School in Jianggao Town and Jianggao Second High School in Jiangcun.
“As a migrant employee working in Guangzhou, my children’s education has been my biggest concern. The company has now completely resolved this for me. They truly care about us and our children!” After learning that his daughter had secured the quota to enrol at Jiangcun Primary School, Zhao Wei from the Logistics Management Department excitedly spoke to the head of the Personnel Administration Department. It is reported that once children of non-local employees secure the public school quota, they will not only benefit from a superior school environment but also enjoy equal treatment with locally registered students. Zeng, Head of the Administrative and Human Resources Department, stated that valuing and supporting staff is core to the company’s culture. Staff concerns are the company’s priority. The company will continue to do its utmost to resolve employee issues now and in the future, ensuring everyone can work and live happily.
